What a beautiful Country we live in, an award winning journalist has proven again that he is a professional. As regard every lies that was published about our member, we will like to remind you that irrespective of your purpose of writing this, you shouldn’t damage someone’s image; remember you also have a name which you have been building for years, both the writer as a person and the entire Punch newspaper as an entity.
This is a response to your report titled “Exposed! Lagos-based mmm ‘billionaire’ who lavished cash on wedding … got brand new suv from guiders”, dated 17th of december, 2016.
As a professional in news reporting, we believe you should make your findings well before writing your report.
- Is he the first Nigerian to be presented a brand new SUV as his wedding gift? So what’s so special about it, or is SUV made for special Nigerians?.
- Is luxury boat meant for specific set of people in Nigeria?
You said someone tweeted ago about an alleged deal between Ugorji and a Philipino millionaire?
- Are you a learner that you don’t know how envy and hatred works. Once anyone hates you, all he does is to try to go for image defamation. Did you bother to ask the person if he is a participant and also if he has any personal beef against any member of the community? You just jumped into conclusion; our expectatoin is that, you as a professional you should know better.
- Did he ever declare his worth to you that made you tag him a billionaire?
Well, such is life. Till date, media is a major tool in damaging people’s image.
How i wish nigerians could ask you where you got your findings from. We have not forgotten so soon when the media gave us a broadcast on ?lion of burdilon? Which was only by one single channel, who does not know that it is a sponsored broadcast by an enemy.
Gilbert k. Chesterton once said “Journalism is popular, but it is popular mainly as fiction. Life is one world, and life seen in the newspapers is another”.
If a professional journalist could go as far as giving us what is far from the truth. Why not focus on the state of the nation instead of raising unecessary alarm.
If you don’t read the newapaper, you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed.
What is the long term effect of too much of information, one of the effects is for you to be false and not to be true anymore, so one of the responsibilities you have is to tell the truth, not just to be false.
In our society today, we cant even trust the media anymore because of the kind of information they feed us with, we havent forgotten how you almost turned our religious leaders against each other with some of your reports before the 2015 general elections, you don’t care if what you are sharing is true or false, you don’t care who is affected, you just sell it. Whatever you practice, you get good at it. Hope that’s not how you behave at home?
Leave the participants alone, the country has a lot of pressing issues you can write on, make sure you tell us the truth. Why are you using panadol for my own headache?.
We love the media because you do not cease to amaze us, funny enough on the day of the Punch publication, you also published birthday pictures of Mr. President (happy birthday to him), of which you dare not write any how there because you know he is the president. Don’t use the media to oppress the common man please.
“In journalism just one fact that is false prejudices the entire work. In contrast, in fiction one single fact that is true gives legitimacy to the entire work. That’s the only difference, and it lies in the commitment of the writer. A novelist can do anything he wants so long as he makes people believe in it.” – Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Finally, Mr writer, where were you when MMM NIGERIA was seeing to the need of the common man?.
